The Merger

In April 2011, Alliance Oncology acquired US Radiosurgery, creating a powerful force in the fight against cancer.

Since its inception, US Radiosurgery has always had a singular focus on stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and is a true leader in this area. Alternatively, Alliance Oncology, a division of Alliance HealthCare Services, has been an industry leader in cancer center development with a broader focus on other types of radiation therapy technologies, including those that deliver Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), as well as stereotactic radiosurgery technology.

With the acquisition, US Radiosurgery now operates as a division of Alliance Oncology, and all management and operations of both companies’ SRS centers have been consolidated under US Radiosurgery. Our combined SRS operations cover 18 dedicated radiosurgical centers that treated about 2,000 patients just in the year leading up to the merger.

Through our shared network of facilities, our hospital and physician partners are connected to some of the best and brightest minds in the SRS field, both in terms of clinical and operational expertise.

Value Delivered

Hospitals and physician groups that partner with us are guided through the process of building their own radiosurgical centers – due diligence, financing, construction, marketing and daily operations. And that’s just the beginning. Our proven growth system makes it easy to adopt new clinical techniques and research-driven protocols with long-term, sustainable results.

Our Chief Medical Officer, John Kresl, MD, PhD, is recognized as a national leader in SRS treatment and has clinical experience with virtually every form of SRS technology available. He was a key figure in establishing guidelines for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements for radiosurgery treatment and provides invaluable leadership and expertise to all our partners, both those employing radiation therapy technologies and SRS technologies.

All our centers are fully networked with access to clinical and medical advisory boards, group practice models, patient outcome data collection and shared technology. Radiation oncologists and physicists collaborate in person or electronically through continuing medical education, peer review, virtual tumor boards and chart round activities. They also meet regularly to share best practices, and our physics division offers standardization of calibration and quality control protocols.

Moreover, our physics quality assurance program is a comprehensive system for error prevention, assessing all program metrics such as patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, scheduling efficiency and much more.

We help our partners form and integrate accountable care organizations, and we offer complete assistance with accreditation from The Joint Commission for hospital-based SRS centers, the American College of Radiation Oncology and other leading organizations.

Those who stand to benefit the most, however, are our partners’ patients. Our pledge is to work with our partners to bring the latest SRS technologies and techniques to local communities, while ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care.
