President
Richard J. Hall joined the company as President of Alliance Oncology in November 2008. Mr. Hall’s extensive healthcare background includes more than 25 years experience in both the public and private sectors, including approximately four years as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for US Oncology, the nation’s largest oncology services provider. Mr. Hall began his career with American Hospital Supply and has also held senior leadership positions with General Medical Corporation, McKesson Corporation, PatientKeeper®, and BrightStar Healthcare®. He earned a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Pennsylvania State University, and completed studies in the executive health care program at Duke University.
Senior Vice President, Operations
Dane R. Hooper joined Alliance Oncology in August 2006 and serves as the Senior Vice President of Operations. He was previously the Senior Vice President of Business Development. Mr. Hooper has specialized in the planning, development and operations of radiation therapy cancer treatment centers for more than 18 years. His expertise spans the creation of more than 75 radiotherapy facilities in hospital and free-standing settings. Prior to joining Alliance, Mr. Hooper served as Principal for Medical Business Resources, Inc. and MBR Medical Billing, Inc. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
Chief Medical Officer, Alliance Oncology
John Kresl, M.D., Ph.D., joined Alliance Oncology as Chief Medical Officer in December 2010. Dr. Kresl is a highly experienced radiation oncologist, most recently having served as Medical Director of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz. He has also been affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute, where he was the Vice Chairman and Attending Staff Physician for the Department of Radiation Oncology. In this role, Dr. Kresl helped run the Gamma Knife Center and brought in CyberKnife technology. He is well-known for his expertise with these technologies and was instrumental in starting the CyberKnife Society (CKS), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the science and clinical practice of radiosurgery. Dr Kresl has been a member of the CyberKnife Society’s Board of Directors for more than six years, serving as Treasurer for four years.
Dr. Kresl attended the University of Wisconsin, and finished his Ph.D. and M.D. at Northwestern University. After completing residency training in radiation oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., he joined a group practice, Radiation Oncologists of Central Arizona (ROCA), where he is a managing partner and practices today. He has been the principal investigator and co-investigator on clinical protocol investigations and has published over 100 abstracts, manuscripts, book chapters and textbooks related to the field of radiation oncology. He has also served as a visiting professor at a number of medical centers in the United States and abroad and is frequently an invited lecturer at seminars throughout the world. In addition, Dr. Kresl has been an active participant in organizations serving the radiation oncology community of physicians, and has served as Chairman and Vice Chairman on several committees, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASRO), the American College of Radiology (ACR), the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), the CyberKnife Society and the Council of Affiliated Regional Radiation Oncology Societies (CARROS).
Vice President, Marketing
Rob Baughman was appointed to Vice President of Marketing for both Alliance Imaging and Alliance Oncology in September 2011. Prior to this role, he was Vice President of Marketing for Alliance Oncology. Mr. Baughman’s background includes more than 13 years of leadership experience in marketing within the oncology and pharmaceutical industries. Prior to joining Alliance in June 2010, Mr. Baughman held marketing leadership positions at US Oncology and Oncure Medical Corp. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver.
Vice President, Finance
Douglas McCracken is Vice President of Finance for Alliance Oncology. Mr. McCracken joined Alliance Imaging as Vice President of Finance in November 2004 and provided notable financial and business leadership to the division before transitioning to Vice President of Finance for Alliance Oncology in August 2011. Prior to joining Alliance, Mr. McCracken held roles in financial analysis and customer financing for telecommunications company Nortel Networks before moving to Marconi Wireless, where he served as Director of Customer Financing and then Operations Controller. Mr. McCracken began his career with The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Mich. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University and a master’s of business administration from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in Bloomington.
Vice President, Alliance Oncology
Jeffrey R. Gerlach joined Alliance in August 2009 and works closely with Alliance HealthCare Services’ Mergers and Acquisitions team for the Oncology division. Mr. Gerlach’s background includes more than 15 years experience in oncology business development, as well as medical device sales and marketing. Prior to joining Alliance, he held a variety of leadership positions, including Director of Business Development for US Oncology and Vice President of Marketing for Stryker Corporation. Mr. Gerlach earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Arizona.
Vice President, Medical Physics
Per H. Halvorsen, MS, DABR, FACR, was appointed Vice President of Medical Physics in October 2010. He has been with the company since June 2008, originally serving as Director of Medical Physics. Mr. Halvorsen has consulted in radiation oncology physics for the past decade. His distinguished healthcare career includes working in hospital-based and free-standing private radiation oncology clinics as the Director of Radiological Physics as well as at the Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. Mr. Halvorsen has been an active surveyor for the American College of Radiology’s (ACR) accreditation program for more than 10 years, serving on the ACR’s oversight committee for the past six years and was recently elected to an honorary fellowship in the College. In addition, he has held numerous leadership roles within the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, most recently serving on the Board of Directors. Mr. Halvorsen also served as a reviewer during the implementation of Stanford University’s web-based dosimetry training tool, widely used in training programs worldwide. He has served as a manuscript reviewer and Ad-Hoc Associate Editor for the Medical Physics scientific journal and on the Scientific Advisory Board of two new-technology companies focusing on radiation dosimetry equipment. Mr. Halvorsen earned a master’s degree in radiological medical physics, is registered with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission as an Authorized Medical Physicist, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.
Vice President, Business Development
Dwight Mussleman joined Alliance Oncology in May 2010. Mr. Mussleman has more than 15 years experience in radiation oncology new business development, physician recruitment and relations, contract negotiations, and operations leadership. He has held the roles of Vice President of Business Development, Operations and Development, and Physician Development at Global Physics Solutions and US Oncology. Mr. Mussleman earned bachelor’s degrees in professional sales and management from Harding University.
Vice President of Business Development, US Radiosurgery
Greg Spurlock joined Alliance Oncology in April 2011, as part of the company’s acquisition of US Radiosurgery. Mr. Spurlock’s entire career has been focused on ancillary services, physician relationships and facility planning. Prior to joining US Radiosurgery, he served as Executive Vice President of NeoSpine, where he was responsible for surgery center development as well as the management of all architecture and construction related to the company’s spine surgery centers. Prior to that role, Mr. Spurlock served as Chief Executive Officer of Imaging One, LLC. He has also held the role of Executive Director at Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance (TOA) and at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
Vice President of Operations, US Radiosurgery
Cindy Winker joined Alliance Oncology in April 2011, as part of the company’s acquisition of US Radiosurgery. For more than 30 years, Ms. Winker has served in executive positions across a range of healthcare services that includes clinical leadership as well as HMO and ambulatory surgery center development and management. After nine years in nursing services, Cindy spent the next 10 years of her career in the start-up and subsequent management of an IPA model HMO with John Deere Healthcare. For the last 17 years, she has managed and operated ambulatory surgery centers in partnership with physicians. Ms. Winker received her bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, a master’s degree from Northern Illinois University, and a doctorate from the University of Tennessee.
