Partnering with Los Alamitos Medical Center Since 1994

Los Alamitos Medical Center (LAMC) and Alliance Imaging’s partnership was formed in 1994. The full time modular unit was one of Alliance’s first partnership accounts and included marketing, customer support, and managed care contracts. Along with the LAMC Radiology Group, the amount of patient exams continued to grow at a steady pace through the mid and late 1990s. A new MRI unit and modular were installed in 2001. In 2002, the modular was moved to a different facility to make room for the hospital’s new medical office building. Alliance became lease-owners in the new building after conducting scanning operations in a mobile unit during the 18-month construction period.

In December of 2003, operations were moved into the ground floor of the new 3-story building. Scanning in the approximately 4400 square-foot suite began with a new GE Signa Infinity 1.5 T Excite. Alliance managed on-site scheduling and patient check-in within the new spacious lobby, providing services for both outpatient and inpatient populations. In July of 2004, a second MRI system was added. This system is a Hitachi Altaire 0.7 T superconducting Open system. In September of 2005, the hospital’s Imaging Department added a new web-based Picture Archive Retrieval System (PACS). Studies are now read by the radiologist on high-resolution monitors, and report turn-around time has been reduced to less than 24 hours for most cases. Referring physicians can bring up their patient’s images and view their reports in the comfort and convenience of their office or home.

In late 2007, Alliance added the capabilities to perform breast MRI with related scans being read by a nationally renowned radiologist who specializes in breast evaluation. LAMC and the Department of Diagnostic Imaging have always had a high reputation for providing superb quality healthcare with a “community hospital feel and friendliness.” The large senior community of Leisure World in Seal Beach, CA considers it to be “their” hospital.
